Fishing Trip: Enjoy a Canadian fishing trip & shore lunch on Lake of the Woods. We will pick you up at our landing near Sioux Narrows and transport you via boat to our island lodge for great Musky, Lake Trout, walleye, northern pike and bass fishing.
Trails / Hiking Trails: Enjoy exploring the network of hiking trails on the island and perhaps have a picnic as you take in some bird watching. There is much to see on the trails since the whole area is remote. even try some berry picking while on your canadian vacation.
Trails / Nature Trails: The Sanctuary Resort is located on an island making your vacation in a secluded setting with nothing but Canadian wilderness surrounding you. Our island is covered with old growth white pine trees, providing a majestic setting for our hiking trails

Angling
Bass / Smallmouth Bass: Lake of the Woods is well known for its excellent smallmouth bass fishing. There are several catch and release bass tournaments held yearly where many 3 - 5 lb bass are caught.
Muskie: Lake of the Woods is famous for its muskie fishing. Many trophy musky have been caught and released near our resort, so when planning your fishing trip our island resort 6 miles from Sioux Narrows is an excellent choice for you.
Walleye: For a canadian walleye fishing trip to remember, Lake of the Woods is well known for it's quantity and quality, with miles of the lake there is alot of good structure making for a good hiding spot for a trophy walleye.
Northern Pike: When fishing Lake of the Woods everyone enjoys the thrill of landing that big northern pike, many trophy pike are caught each year making them a favourite in the Sioux Narrows area for many to fish for.
Trout / Lake Trout: While on your fishing vacation Lake Trout is another of the many fishing species that Lake of the Woods has to offer. You will find them in the deep colder water and are a thrill to Catch.

Natural History: The Sanctuary Resort was hand built from the ground up by Walter Horley and his family starting in the late 1920's and has continued to operate in the family ever since. We have a long history of living on lake of the woods.

Boat Launches: For those of you who wish to bring your own boat and motor for your fishing trip to our resort, There is a boat launch available for your use at the marina (with boat gas) next door to our landing .
Boat Rentals / Fishing Boats: Our fishing boat rentals are 16' boats with 15 or 25 hp Yamaha motors for you to have a relaxing fishing day on Lake of the Woods. Or hire a guide who will take you out in a larger boat.

Housekeeping Cabins: At The Sanctuary Resort near Sioux Narrows our housekeeping cabins are equiped with running water, electricity, bedding, towels, dishes, cooking utensils,electric fridge,propane stove/oven, wood stove, and a beautiful view of Lake of the Woods.
Cabin Rentals: Our cabins rentals on Lake of the Woods are all large and spacious with a beautiful view of the lake .The one cabin is a frame construction with 4 bedrooms. the others are real log cabins, hand crafted by our family
Cottage Rentals: The Sanctuary Resort offers cottage rentals located on an island in Lake of the Woods. Enjoy the rustic comforts of our spacious cottages nestled in the solitude and beauty only an island resort can offer for your canadian vacation.
Family Vacations: Our location on Lake of the Woods in Sioux Narrows, Ontario offers an ideal setting for a family vacation when looking for a safe environment where they can enjoy nature in all its splender. Kids enjoy catching smallmouth bass off the dock.

Islands / Lodges and Resorts: When looking for lodges and resorts our island resort is truly a Sanctuary with its abundant redpine and whitepine trees, many of which are over 200 years old. We have hiking trails so you can explore the island. Our sand beach is safe for children.
Amenities / Pets Allowed: At our resort we have guests that bring their dog and or cat along for the family vacation or fishing trip. Our pets allowed policy is as long as pets are well behaved they are welcome.
