Trails / Nature Trails

Muskie: Six of our lakes have great muskie fishing. Maskinonge - Hooch - Cloudlet are referred to as Musky Sanctuaries. They are connected to Little Vermilion Lake via a creek system, and were closed some 60+ years before being reopened in 1993.

Northern Pike: Little Vermilion Lake is known for its large-bodied northern pike fishing. Because of its cold deep water & excellent forage, they grow rapidly & develop a healthy body. Many are hooked weighing between 10-15 lbs & 15-20 pounders have been released.

Bass / Smallmouth Bass: Smallmouth bass are caught & released in large numbers throughout the year. Often, 3-4 lb smallies are caught & 4-5 pounders are not uncommon. Guests at Fireside Lodge release smallmouth bass over 5 lbs every year.

Conservation Fishing: Fireside Lodge participates in the Master Anglers Award Program sponsored by the district of Sioux Lookout for conservation fishing. It awards guests for the catch & release of certain specie sizes. Qualifying sizes: Bass,18"+;Pike 40"+ ;Muskie 44"+.

Whitefish: Little Vermilion Lake in Sioux Lookout, Ontario has an abundance of whitefish. Being flat, football shaped, and silvery white in color, they usually roam our waters in schools. Average size is 1 to 5 pounds with the potential growth of over 10 pounds

Flyfishing: Amid the pristine atmosphere of the northern wilderness, the fly fishers can broaden their techniques to pursue flyfishing for Northern Pike, Muskie and Smallmouth Bass while at our resort on Little Vermilion Lake.

Boat Rentals / Fishing Boats: Upgrade your modern fishing boat rental to a 18 foot Alaskan Lund Boat with open floors, swivel seats, rod locker, storage, landing net and fish cradle. Powered by 40 hp Yamaha 4 stroke motor and front mounted trolling motor.

Boat Rentals / Canoes & Kayaks: For the more adventurous who enjoy canoeing and kayaking our resort on Little Vermilion Lake has canoes are available for rent.

Drive In Access: Fireside Lodge in Sioux Lookout, Ontario is a drive in resort on Little Vermilion Lake. From Fort Frances/International Falls take hwy's 11 & 502 to Dryden, east on Hwy 17 to Dinorwic, north on 72 to reach your destination.
