Highwind Lake Camp

Camping: For those of you who wish to go camping for your vacation in Ontario, our 20 campsites which can handle anything from tenting to RV's have water & electricity hook-ups, are well treed and are situated along our 1000 foot sandy beach.

Hunting Trips: Highwind Lake Camp in Northwestern Ontario offers our guests a variety of hunting trips for species such as black bear, whitetail deer and ruffed grouse.

Canoeing & Kayaking / Canoeing: While on your vacation in the Kenora area of Northwestern Ontario and enjoy canoeing & kayaking then you will enjoy our lodge on Highwind Lake as canoeing is a favorite activity of our guests.

Hiking: If you want to head out for a day of hiking to explore our area we provide the trails you need. With no highways to cross, just miles of old logging roads & trails. Just pack your lunch, walk out of your cabin & take off for a day of adventure.

Swimming / Sand Beach: We have a thousand foot long sand beach offering some of the best swimming opportunities anywhere in Northwest Ontario.

Nature Photography: If you enjoy nature photography, bring your camera along while on your vacation to Ontario and go for a nature hike and start clicking.

Playgrounds: We have a well-equipped playground for children located close to our cabins and campground, so it is easy for parents to keep an eye on their little ones while enjoying their family vacation.

Fishing Trip: Highwind & surrounding lakes are deep, clear lakes that are home to a number of species of fish, the most notable being the lake trout. As well smallmouth bass & northern pike are in our lake & the surrounding lakes for a variety on your fishing trip

Birdwatching: From large bald eagles to tiny hummingbirds there is a variety of birds to be seen while birdwatching around Highwind Lake including ruffed grouse, blue jays, black capped chickadees and whisky jacks.

Rock Climbing: The terrain around our camp on Highwind Lake is extremely rugged with many cliffs offering great rock climbing opportunities.

Trails / Mountain Bike Trails: The logging roads around Highwind Lake Camp make excellent for excellent mountain bike trails for your enjoyment while on your Ontario vacation.

Trails / ATV Trails: The logging roads in Northwestern Ontario around camp make excellent ATV trails for exploring with your ATV. Bring lots of gas because there are miles of roads to explore.

Scuba Diving: Highwind Lake has a sandy bottom and is crystal clear which makes for a great scuba diving or snorkelling experience.

Trout / Lake Trout: When planning your lake trout fishing trip to canada at Highwind Lake Camp near Kenora, Ontario, our clear deep lakes are ideal habitats for lakers.

Bass / Smallmouth Bass: For your canadian fishing vacation in the Kenora area of Northwestern Ontario, Highwind Lake is known for its lake trout fishing, but it also has great smallmouth bass fishing.

Ice Fishing: Our camp in is located in the "heart of trout country", and the winter months are the perfect time to fish for lake trout. Our guests will have the opportunity for ice fishing on the many lakes that are difficult to get to in the summer months.

Northern Pike: Enjoy your family vacation in our campgrounds or housekeeping cabins on Highwind Lake and enjoy some great Ontario northern pike fishing.

Berry Picking: While on your vacation if you enjoy berry picking, our area is also noted for its blueberries. There are usually great areas for picking not too far from the camp.

EcoTours: For those of you who enjoy ecotours, the terrain at Highwind Lake Camp is very hilly & rugged. Many of our guests like to head out with camera in hand when hiking our old logging roads or climbing our hills to capture the view of the lake.

Wildlife Viewing: This part of Ontario has a multitude of wildlife and birds - great for those who want to do some wildlife viewing!

Black Bear: At Highwind Lake Camp in Northwestern Ontario we offer an affordable, quality canadian black bear hunts for both rifle and bow hunters. We have a high success rate due to our guaranteed working baits and large Bear Management Area.

Deer: We offer deer hunting in a remote wilderness setting of Northwestern Ontario. Our camp is located 10 miles from our nearest neighbour surrounded by miles and miles of abandoned logging roads, no better place for a self-guided whitetail deer hunt.

Birds / Grouse: We offer the opportunity to hunt for ruffed grouse in our remote wilderness setting. Our hunters can head out on their quads or in their trucks right from their cabins or campsites to hunt on our extensive system of abandoned logging roads.

Waterskiing: For your family vacation at Highwind Lake Camp in the Kenora area of Northwestern Ontario, enjoy swimming, fishing as well we can offer you an intense waterskiing experience!

Boat Rentals / Fishing Boats: We have 14 Ft. Edson Boats and 9.9 Motors for fishing boat rentals. At Highwind Lake Camp you can rent them for a half day, full day or for the week.

Boat Rentals / Canoes & Kayaks: While on your ontario family vacation we rent canoes for a half or full day. Paddle out into the crystal clear water of Highwind Lake.

Cabin Rentals: Our three, hand crafted 1 1/2 story log cabins rentals are fully equipped housekeeping cabins, offering cozy comfort in a wilderness setting. All linens, cutlery, & dishes are supplied for you while on your ontario fishing trip to Highwind Lake Camp.

Campgrounds: At Highwind Lake Camp we have one of the nicest campgrounds anywhere in Northwest Ontario. The campsites are well treed & most situated along our 1000 foot sandy beach. All campsites are located close to our central shower house/washroom facility.

Housekeeping Cabins: Our housekeeping cabins located on the lakeshore of Highwind Lake are all fully modern log cabin rentals great for either a family vacation or a fishing trip to Northwestern Ontario for some of the best Lake Trout fishing in our area.

Family Vacations: With many activities for both children and adults, Highwind Lake Camp is the perfect setting for an enjoyable family vacation. Try snorkelling or scuba diving, rock climbing, canoeing, fishing or playing a game of horseshoes.

Cottage Rentals: Our lakeside cottage rentals are along the shores of Highwind Lake. Fully modern & comfortable housekeeping cabins that can accomodate families or fisherman alike. Children can enjoy our beautiful sand beach and adults can enjoy fishing.

Guides / Hunting: If you are looking for hunting guides at Highwind Lake Camp we offer a fully guided black bear hunt. Our whitetail deer hunt is self-guided with lots of opportunities and area to hunt in for trophy bucks.

Campgrounds / RV Parks: Most of our RV campground sites have water and electricity hook-ups. Modern washroom/shower house facility is centrally located for the convenience of all our guests. We also have some seasonal camping sites.

Drive In Access: We are a drive in resort located near Kenora, Ontario. Highwind lake Road is a graded logging road off highway 71 that will take you right to your housekeeping cabin or campsite for your fishing trip to Ontario.

Amenities / Pets Allowed: We are a pets allowed resort for a fee, but they must be kept quiet and on a leash and attended at all times. They are not allowed on the beach or in the water. All waste from pets must be picked up in plastic bags and disposed of in garbage cans.

Amenities / Water Slides: Highwind Lake Camp has a diving raft and water slide to use while swimming when on your family vacation in Ontario.
