Highwind Lake is a deep, clear lake with rugged shoreline interrupted by beautiful sand beaches. It is about 4 kilometers long with bays reaching out in different directions. There is one large island and a number of small islands for picnicking and shore lunches. There are high cliffs above water for cliff jumping and hidden cliffs under water to explore with scuba or snorkeling gear. There is only one facility on the lake. Highwind Lake offers you a peaceful, quiet wilderness location. There are lake trout, smallmouth bass, northern pike and whitefish in the lake. The forest surrounding Highwind is mostly white pine, jack pine and red pine along with cedar and spruce. There are also some nice stands of birch along the shoreline. Highwind Lake is on a major canoe route with portages leading to other lakes that are similar in nature. Contributor: Highwind Lake Camp
