Cochenour on Highway 105

Sand beach at Cochenour, OntarioCochenour, Ontario, which is part of an amalgamated municipality, the Corporation of the Municipality of Red Lake, is located at the end of Highway 105, 170 kms (100 miles) north of Vermilion Bay and the Trans Canada Highway (Hwy 17).

We have everything you need for a great vacation, including air connections through Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario to the Red Lake Airport in Couchenour. This 5000' asphalt, all-weather airstrip is owned by the Corporation of the Municipality of Red Lake and operated by Thunder Bay Airport Services Inc. Customs are available upon request, mid-May to mid-September, 9am-5pm. Call 1-888-226-7277 (1-888-CANPASS) for more information. Numerous local float plane operations can show you the world of adventure that waits in the unspoiled lakes and forests.

Community Hall in Cochenour, OntarioCochenour has many public beaches including the newly revitalized Rahill Beach with the attached Elmer Pine Park to relax and enjoy the sun during the summer months. During the summer months there is a ferry service from Couchenour to McKenzie Island. In the winter, locals and visitors use an ice road.
