A visit to Red Lake, Ontario will give you an opportunity to experience much of the Northern lifestyle - past and present. Red Lake is an amalgamated municipality consisting of six smaller towns located in the heart of a lake-studded, boreal forest region. Enjoy pastimes such as golf, squash or swimming in attractive facilities that will make you feel right at home. Most people still visit Red Lake for its natural beauty, to revel in the wildlife, and to experience incredible fishing in the many clear freshwater lakes in the area. Red Lake is home to many fishing and hunting lodges and is a starting point to many of the fly-in lodges and outposts. Norseman Capital of the World History can be experienced first hand at the Red Lake Museum which is located in the new Regional Heritage Centre. You'll find First Nation and gold mining displays as well as outdoor exhibits. You can watch movies of the area's rich past, buy books and souvenirs, and find out about other attractions in the district. Take a tour of Placer Dome's Campbell Gold Mine in nearby Balmertown or see the unique Earl Crull Rock Collection at the Municipal Office.
