Canyon Lake is 19 miles long and at its widest point is three miles across, the narrowest width is 100 yards. You can see where it got it's name from the rocky shoreline with lots of fallen trees and sheltered bays, deep ledges and weed beds all providing excellent fishing. Canyon Lake offers walleye, smallmouth bass and musky fishing. The tale of the monster musky is very real on Canyon Lake - with many caught in the 25lb range and up to 50 lbs. Smallmouth are a fun fish to catch and range from 1 - 3 lbs with the big fish weighing in at 6 lbs. Walleye in the11/2 to 2 lb range are plentiful with several over 10 lbs. caught every year. We promote catch and release for trophy fish and are seeing a great response to this! Northern fishing is done on some smaller lakes in the area - mostly for fun - with a few trophy fish caught every year.
